The Foundational Economy Collective is since the mid-2010s a pluralist network of researchers and practitioners concerned with improving the collective provision of the shared basics of society – from health care to culture, from housing to ecosystems. We do this through research and activism at a variety of levels, from action-research with community organizations, academic studies and activism in civic and social movements.

We are pleased to see a growing number of researchers and practitioners around the world, beyond the FE collective itself, creatively drawing on foundational economy concepts in their work—contributing to what has been tentatively described as a “foundational movement” or a “foundational turn.”
We always welcome in the Foundational Economy Collective new researchers and practitioners and are open to collaborate on new projects with individuals and groups which share our concerns that the provision of basics should be equitable, democratic and sustainable.
We are a plural collective and foundational thinking is not a closed theoretical system but a “construction site” which evolves as individuals and groups engage with real-world issues.
