The Foundational Economy Collective is since the mid-2010s a pluralist network of researchers and practitioners concerned with improving the collective provision of the shared basics of society – from health care to culture, from housing to ecosystems. We do this through research and activism at a variety of levels, from action-research with community organizations, academic studies and activism in civic and social movements. Societies exist and flourish because of a delicate balance that depends on a set of material and immaterial basics – language, shelter, food, security – shared and enjoyed by all their members.
